I bike commute every day, going the opposite way of you (I know exactly the steep hill you are talking about – and that is also the worst crossing of the route – hopefully they will fix the crossing…nothing to be done about the hill!), and the other day I had to take transit downtown on a hot day…all I could think about was that I wished I was on my bike instead!

Hang in there – your muscles will not be sore for long! It did take a while for me to work up to doing the full 5 days a week, but 3 for 5 is a pretty fantastic start!

I started commuting by bike recently too. I’m trying to ride every day, but I don’t ride the whole way either. My commute is really long, so I have a folding bike – I drive part of the way and ride the last couple of miles. My goal is to not give in and drive the whole way any of the days. So far, so good.
